Namkeen chawal (Quick, Easy and Delicious)

Hi friends,how are you all? Today’s recipe is ‘Namkeen chawal ‘. It is a one pot meal which is very quick and easy to prepare and delicious also.

These days generally people live away from their family due to work and other reasons. Because of that they don’t have home cooked food which they really miss it.

So I thought why not to share some quick and easy recipe which is delicious also. As I said earlier this is one pot meal so it is also less time consuming.

Namkeen chawal is the dish which is loved by all age groups specially by children. It is healthy also because we can add as much as vegetables of our choice.


  • Rice – 1 bowl
  • Chopped vegetables – 1bowl
  • Chopped onions-1
  • Crushed ginger and garlic-1tsp
  • Chopped tomatoes-1
  • Turmeric powder- 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder-1/2tsp
  • Coriander powder-1tsp
  • Garam masala powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds- 1/2tsp
  • Tej patta- 1
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Oil – 2tsp
  • Ghee 1/2tsp
  • Water- 2 bowl

Steps to follow for making Namkeen chawal are:-

  • Heat the pressure cooker and put some cumin seeds in it.
  • Now put chopped onions and crushed ginger garlic into it and start stirring until onions become soft.
  • Add the vegetables and stir them around 10 minutes on low flame.
  • In the meantime wash the rice put it separately.

  • Now add all the spices and chopped tomatoes.
  • when the vegetables are half cooked with spices put the rice in it.

  • Now mix them together and add water with salt, garam masala and ghee.
  • Cover the pressure cooker and cook it until 2 whistle.
  • After 2 whistle close the gas flame and let the pressure release itself.
  • Your namkeen chawal is ready to serve. Serve it papad or achar.
