Black Masoor dal

Hi friends,how are you all? Today’s recipe is ‘Black Masoor dal’ . You all must have different types of pulses in your meal which is very good thing. Pulses have all the protien which our required.

But sometimes children don’t want to eat them or don’t like the taste of it. So I thought why not to share my recipe of black masoor dal which is loved by all in my family. It is very simple recipe so you don’t have to worry about ingredients or anything.

Black masoor dal is very easy to cook and very tasty also. You can prepare it with easily available ingredents at your home.

let’s start making it.


  • Black masoor dal – 1bowl
  • chopped onions – 1bowl
  • Green chilli – 1
  • chopped garlic gloves- 4to5
  • chopped tomatoes – 1bowl
  • 1 tej patta
  • cumin seeds- 1/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1/2tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1tsp
  • Garam Masala powder- 1tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water – 2 cups

Steps to follow:-

  • Firstly wash the dal with clean water .

  • Now take a pressure cooker add 2 cups of water , 1/2tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2tsp of salt and dal in it . Cook it around 4-5 whistle.

  • On the other side start making tadka for dal . Heat a oil in the pan and put some jeera with chopped onions, tej patta and some chopped garlic in it.
  • When onions are half cooked add all the spices in it and start stirring them.
  • When you see see spices are mixed well then add chopped tomatoes and mix it properly.
  • When tomatoes become soft and cooked properly then add boiled dal into it.

  • Now cook it for 5to10 mins . Add 1tsp ghe

  • Black masoor dal is ready to serve. Serve it with roti or rice. It taste great with both.
